Rosamond Thaxter Foundation
A lifelong resident of Kittery Point, Maine, Rosamond Thaxter was a philanthropist, writer, public speaker, and world traveler. “Rozzie,” as she liked to be called, established her charitable foundation in 1964 to continue to support local non-profit organizations she had been involved with for many years. Sandpiper, her biography of her grandmother, Celia Thaxter of the Isles of Shoals, is still in print, and her short memoir, Aunt Rozzie Remembers, is available from the Kittery Historical & Naval Museum.
What We Support
Rosamond Thaxter had a deep love for Kittery, Portsmouth and the Isles of Shoals, and supported many organizations and endeavors in her lifetime that enriched the quality of life in these communities. The Rosamond Thaxter Foundation continues her legacy of philanthropy by supporting charitable organizations located primarily in Kittery and Portsmouth that focus on health and human services, environmental protection and land conservation, history and historic preservation, education and recreation, and visual and performing arts.
